Happy 2021! Wow, it feels weird to say that. Over the past year, the pandemic has brought one challenge after another. On the bright side, I gained so much perspective and gratitude. For almost half the year, I was unexpectedly in quarantine on Long Island where I grew up, before going back to NYC in late August. Through it all, I spent a lot of time reflecting on my past, thinking about the present, and confused about my future.

Everything was —and still is—uncertain, but that brings me to the greatest lesson I’ve learned the past year: always look on the bright side.

It seems like all of those cliché sayings about how mindset is everything, really, is true. Yes, the world has changed. Wearing face masks has become a necessity as is social distancing. But hopefully, this uncalled-for turn of events is an awakening for us to appreciate the little things in life.

So, here’s to 2021—and celebrations at home still calls for sparkles! Scroll on for a New Year’s Eve outfit and accessories to hopefully brighten up the new year. Sending positive thoughts as we head into another journey around the sun.

January Moodboard: The Bright Side

1. Graphic Image: 7” Wire-O Notebook, $130bergdorfgoodman.com

Each year is like another chapter of your story. Fill this golden leather notebook with your deepest thoughts—journaling can surprisingly help untangle your thoughts and let you get to know yourself better.

2. Lauren Ralph Lauren: Sequined Surplice Dress, yoox.com

I wore this sequined dress on New Year’s Eve at home with my mom while we had a Zoom party with the rest of my family. Even though we were just in the living room, dressing up changes the whole mood!

3. Charlotte Tilbury: Matte Revolution Lipstick in Sexy Sienna, $34, sephora.com

This coral shade has been a favorite for years! There’s something about swiping on lipstick that instantly makes things better, especially when it’s an uplifting color. Having this one on felt even more special since I’ve been wearing less lipstick lately under face masks.

4. Charlotte Tilbury: Darling Eyeshadow Palette, $57, sephora.com

It’s an unofficial rule to wear glittery eyeshadow on New Year’s Eve. This one from Charlotte Tilbury has six colors in the palette—a mix of sparkly and matte shades from gold champagne, rose, peach, copper, terracotta, to warm sunset.

5. Oscar de la Renta: Classic Swarovski Crystal Goldtone Star Drop Earrings, $380, saksfifthavenue.com

How gorgeous are these goldtone starburst earrings? It’s one of those pieces you can throw on and instantly feel dressier, whether it be for a Zoom meeting now or an in-person party in the future.

6. Zimmermann: Star Cluster Tights, $80, zimmermann.com

The tights I have on here are from Calzedonia two years ago and I’ve worn them so many times! Zimmermann makes a similar pair—these have metallic gold stars throughout and can be easily be styled with a dress, skirt, or oversized sweater.
