Wellness Gift Guide

1. Slip: Gold Ribbon, $45

There’s no fabric that feels more luxe than silk. This golden hair tie (with matching scrunchie) can be worn as a headband or ponytail holder.

It prevents hair creases, too, like the raved-about slip pillowcases. I tried the queen size pillowcase in silver the other night and couldn’t believe how soft and lightweight it is. I was thinking it might be too fragile for everyday use, but glad that it’s machine washable on the delicate cycle.

Like its plastic wrapper says, warning: this product is highly addictive.

2. GingerChi: Jade Mask Therapy, $48, and GuaSha Comb, $30

When I think of jade, I think of the green bangle on my mom’s wrist. It’s a Chinese tradition to wear jade, which is said to be help protect you from harm. It can also help calm the nervous system, support happiness and harmony, and bring luck.

Recently, I tried the eye mask for ten minutes and it was deeply stress relieving. The Xiuyan jade stones are intricately beaded together and feels naturally cool to the touch. It can also improve blood circulation, eliminate congestion, reduce inflammation, and give you a better night’s sleep!

And I definitely had to include GuaSha comb in this wellness gift guide. It’s made from the same type of jade and is like a combo of a face sculpting tool and comb. Use it with their Face Regenerating Serum for a boost of relaxation.

3. Johnstons of Elgin: Silver Aran Cable Men’s Cashmere Socks, $110

Whether it’s for you or a loved one, you can’t go wrong with cashmere socks. These classic ones are knitted in Hawick, Scotland, and comes in sizes for men, women, and kids.

Johnstons of Elgin has been around since 1797 and has always stood for quality craftsmanship. The brand also commits to sustainable initiatives. It uses natural materials and Scotland’s free-flowing water and energy from renewable resources wherever possible.

Once you slip these on, you might not want to take them off! I love cashmere socks to wear at home while reading a book and lighting a candle. Coziness to the max.

4. Shu Uemura: Wonder Worker Blow Dry Primer, $33

A good friend was telling me about her mom’s love for using Shu Uemura’s Color Lustre Shampoo and Conditioner after dying her hair purple! While I have never been that adventurous when it comes to hair color, I do experiment a lot on hair products.

Ever since I had my bob haircut (exactly a year ago!), I’ve been more attentive to split ends and finding ways to prevent them since it’s more noticeable. I try not to use too many products or else my hair gets oily. The Shu Uemura Wonder Worker Blow Dry Primer is one of the few that I reach for constantly.

I spritz it on after washing my hair and before blow drying and also before straightening. Filled with Moringa flower extract, it gives hair a boost of moisture and shine. It’s a wellness gift guide must.

5. TEK: Big Oval Brush With Regular Pins, $35

Some people collect stamps, but for me, it’s hair brushes. Over the years, my shelf has accumulated a variety of brushes and combs that are regularly used.

Recently, I tried the TEK Big Oval Brush with wooden bristles and had to add it to this wellness gift guide. My hair is on the thicker side and straight, so this brush glided right through with a slight “swish” sound from the pressure on the rubber cushion. It effortlessly untangles my strands without tugging or pulling. Best of all, I feel good about using a sustainable product.

Each product from TEK is handmade in Italy. It’s also FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, meaning the materials used in the products are confirmed to be responsibly sourced. Another perk of this wooden gem is the fact that it’s anti-static—which makes a huge difference, especially in the winter.

6. Lily CBD: Daily Strength, $95

The topic of CBD has blown up in 2019 and I have a feeling it will only heighten over the next year and beyond. Lily CBD’s tagline is “it’s time to feel alive” because, yes, a few drops from the Daily Strength tincture provides more of an energy boost than caffeine or a sugar cookie can—at least for me.

CBD has been shown to help with anxiety, concentration, creativity, productivity, and stress. It can also protect against inflammation, indigestion, and help you sleep more peacefully. I usually add a full dropper (16 mg) into a cup of green tea for some relaxation.

It can also be added to smoothies, coffee, wine, or a cocktail. Alternatively, you can add a few drops on your fingertips and massage into your skin or dispense it under your tongue.

7. Saje: Aroma Breeze Champagne Diffuser, $82

Another must-have for any wellness gift guide: a Saje diffuser. Known for its collection of essential oils, the products are incredibly soothing.

For the holidays last year, I gifted my sister a diffuser for her home. Since the celebration of a New Year always calls for bubbly champagne, this golden-colored one couldn’t be more fitting. Just add water and 10-15 drops of essential oils and it humidifies air, creating a calmer atmosphere.

8. On Running: Cloudswift Sneakers, $150

Ever since I saw these sneakers at a preview, they have been on my wishlist. One of the most popular new year resolutions I often hear about is to work out more—it’s one of mine, too.

Lightweight with a “cloud” like sole, these kicks featured Helion super foam and are designed for urban environments like the streets of New York City. This blush color is a bit different than the average running shoe I’ve seen. It’ll serve as motivation to go for a run.

9. Echo New York: Solid Throw With Pom Poms, $99

Have you put together your new year resolution list yet? Whatever your life goals are, don’t forget to add starting or continuing a healthy sleep routine. Oftentimes, we’re in a rush and trying to balance what seems like a million tasks at once. It’s easy to forget how important it is to rest, recover, and tackle the next day with energy and mindfulness.

And to get better sleep, it starts with having comfy bedding and maybe even a nice throw. Earlier this year, I had a chance to meet Dot Roberts, the sweet chairwoman of Echo Design. It’s a family-run company for almost 97 years now. Inspired by their accessories line, this throw with fur pom poms adds a cozy feel to any home.
