As the seasons shift, fall nail color ideas are on my mind. Autumn has always been my favorite time of the year since it’s literally a refreshing change.
“For fall, I love that you can do more in terms of color,” says celebrity nail artist Elle Gerstein. “Summer colors can be fun to pair with winter colors as a way to transition into the season and make your fall nail wardrobe more versatile.”
“Everything is playing off light and heavy and soft and hard and combining it, that’s what creates the trends,” she notes.
“Nail inspiration always comes from the fall fashions. For designs this season, it’s about leather, sweater textures, animal textures (but not necessarily prints), and metallic finishes to mimic studs and belt buckles.”
Some of my favorite fall nail colors include deeper shades like rustic red and navy blue, as well as dreamy shades with metallic sheens, such as pearlescent nail polishes.
Whether you use these as solid-color manis or part of your fall nail designs, there’s no shortage of options.
Read on for the best fall nail color ideas of 2025, for everyday wear to special occasions.

1. Transformative Teal Nails
This season, go for a cozy, rich fall nail polish color like this Mineral Fusion ‘Perfect Storm shade.
“It is the standout, unexpected color for fall,” says Gerstein. “This is a fall signature instead of navy or black. It’s a transformative teal.”
Besides the stunning color, all Mineral Fusion nail polishes are long-lasting, chip-resistant, and made with no harsh ingredients, so you can feel good about your mani moment.
2. Chocolate Brown Fall Nails
If your usual manicures consist of a deeper hue such as burgundy or black, you’ll love this dark chocolate essie nail polish ‘Odd Squad’ shade.
“It reads as a neutral, so it really has the versatility to be worn for any occasion and is flattering on all skin tones,” says celebrity manicurist Stephanie Stone.
Stone notes, “When wearing darker shades, the biggest tip I can give to make sure they look their best is painting inside the lines. Darker shades are extra visible when painted messily.”
“If you’re not a pro at painting your own nails yet, dip a tiny concealer brush (you can get one at Target near the nail polish section for $3!) in nail polish remover and clean up around the edges,” she says.
3. Glistening Burnt Orange Nails
I love how bold this burnt orange shade is. This vegan nail polish is called ‘Amy’ by Zoya but it could just as well be called ‘Sparkling Pumpkin Pie’.
Embrace the fall vibe and make a statement by using this for your Halloween nail designs or Thanksgiving nail designs.
Burnt orange is one of the most iconic nail polish shades of every September, October, and November.
Add a glossy top coat like this one for extra shine and strength.
4. Dark Glitter Gold Nails
To make any fall outfit look more elegant, go for this golden green metallic hue: Mineral Fusion ‘Gold Rush’.
“I love this because it’s a fern metallic. It has a lot of garden, earthy tones, and the metallic modernizes it,” says Gerstein.
“Metallics are still on trend, and this shade gives them a modern take,” she notes.
5. Sage Green Fall Nails
Sage green is another one of my favorite fall color ideas. What’s so captivating about this subtle hue is how soothing it feels on the eyes.
It’s also a symbol of balance, healing, and growth.
If you’re a neutral lover who’s looking for a fresh change, opt for this green shade.
It can easily pair with the latest trends in fall outfits and accessories in other color palettes. Use it as a solid mani, for micro French tips, or with autumn floral nail designs.
This CHANEL Le Vernis ‘Cavalier Seul’ one is as luxe as can be.’
6. Rustic Burnt Umber Metallic Nails
For a bold and elegant manicure, go for dark reds like Mineral Fusion’s ‘Love Potion’.
The shade “makes me think of raw umber,” says Gerstein. “This plays to mimicking heavier textures like leather, making it a perfect transition to fall.”
The deep red instantly brings the drama and an air of mystery. It’s also on theme for the season, matching the fall foliage and earthy hues.
7. Blush Pink Nails
For an easy home manicure this fall season, pick up a bottle of ‘Blush Jelly’ by essie.
This shade is one of the most popular jelly polishes, and instantly makes nails look put-together.
Stone says, “One Coat will give you a sheer clean glow, but you can add another layer for more opaque coverage depending on your taste.”
This makes a great option to step up your fall fashion game without changing your manicure too often.
The versatility of this light color lets your outfits shine while giving you a clean, chic look.
8. Navy Blue Nails
Looking for something a little different than black nail polish? Try this navy number.
I love the Insta-Dri nail collection by Sally Hansen since it seriously dries so quickly!
Paint them on your nails and watch them dry in about 60 seconds.
This Sally Hansen ‘Midnight Drive’ deep blue shade is fitting for the darker days during the cooler months.
Use this for a classic Russian manicure or go even bolder and add white tips for a remixed French manicure.
9. Pearlescent Nails
After the wave of glazed donut nail trends, comes pearlescent nails for fall 2025.
This iridescent polish makes it easy and versatile to use with plenty of fall nail ideas.
Nails.INC ‘What the Shell?’ is such a pretty take on neutral tones with a dash of shimmer.
It’s the perfect balance between being classic and on trend for the new season.
10. Frosted Neutral Nails
If you loved this summer’s clean soap nails trend, this Morgan Taylor ‘Sunset My Heart On Fire’ shade is for you.
“I love the metallics and they also really work well for lighter materials like silk and chiffon,” says Gerstein.
“To get the glowy skin, think of treating your hands and nails just like your face with skincare. Always use hand cream with arnica, like my favorite Seaweed Bath Co. Ultra Hydrating Hand Cream.” She notes this product takes down inflammation, swelling, and bruising.
11. Orchid Pink Nails
“Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean all the fun has to be sucked out of your wardrobe,” says Stone.
“This bright orchard pink (‘Power Moves’ by essie) is the perfect pop of color to brighten your day when the weather starts to get a little drearier.”
She adds, “Though the polish is bright, the shade is a little more subdued, which is perfect for fall and doesn’t make it look like you’re still clinging to summer.”
Stone’s notes: The essie expressie brush is tapered in such a way to help you paint your nails like a pro to get the perfect mani. Plus, the formula has a built-in base and top coat, which means even less steps in your process!
If you want extra long wear and shine, throw a coat of Gel Couture Top Coat on top.
12. Nude Nails
For the ultimate versatile fall manicure, go for a clean manicure with nude nails.
Tapping into the demure trend, this barely-there nail polish gives the appearance of natural nails, but better.
This ‘Good Energy Efficient’ by Nails.INC caramel shade is long-lasting and quick-drying. It’s also made with 73% plant power and is vegan.
Just a coat or two of this nail polish gives off a modest feel with quiet confidence.
Minimalist nails are, and always will, be in style.
