You know that saying about life feeling like a movie? Well, that’s exactly how I felt at the W Hollywood hotel for five nights.
If you’re looking for where to stay in Los Angeles, read on for all the reasons why this dreamy oasis is worth booking.
Reasons To Book
- Newly-renovated modern designs, calming atmosphere
- Hosts musical performances in The Living Room
- Central location with major attractions in close proximity
- It has a rooftop pool and fitness center
- Fine dining from morning to night
- Friendly and welcoming staff
- Features modern amenities
The Location
The hotel is located in the heart of LA, which made it easier for Dex and I to get from place to place. Iconic spots like the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Capitol Records Building are just a short walk away.
During our time there, we visited downtown LA’s Arts District, Griffith Observatory, Little Tokyo, Rodeo Drive, Venice Beach, and more. Because of the central location and easy access to Ubers, the hotel was overall a great option.
What Makes The W Hollywood Hotel Unique?
When we landed at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), all I wanted to do was get to the hotel and relax. Upon stepping into W Hollywood, there was a live music performance in The Living Room across from the lobby.
Immediately, the sounds along with the mirror chandelier and green velvet sofas calmed my post-flight mood.
W Hotel often hosts concerts for their global music series, W Presents. This includes a mix of established and emerging artists across the world. There are also live performances every Friday and Saturday night starting at 8 PM.
Speaking of music, there’s also a Sound Suite on-site that you can book if you want to record during your stay.
Another perk is the outdoor pool on the roof. Since most of our days were tied up, we went up to see it one night — it was pretty cold so we didn’t swim but it was cool seeing the LA skyline views. Between 12-5 PM every day, you can reserve a daybed or cabana at the WET Deck and relax poolside.
The Ambience
W Hollywood has 319 guest rooms including 39 suites. I love the contemporary design and vibrant atmosphere throughout.
This hotel is where you can go to socialize or just relax. The Living Room bar is open from 12 PM to 2:30 AM with so many delicious drinks and bites.
There’s also a large communal table that we used to get work done every day. In recent years, the hotel has been updated from renovations so everything looks nice and pristine.
Dining Experience
The breakfast at the hotel was such a great start to the morning. What’s better than sitting outside on the garden patio surrounded by palm trees? Some of our favorite dishes were the green market omelet and avocado toast.
We also ordered mocktails at the bar (try the Smoky Cherry and Amaretto-ish Sour — they’re so good!).
More Details
When we arrived, it was around 3:30 PM. Thankfully, they gave us the keys to our room early (the usual check-in time is 4 PM). The check-out time is 12 PM.
The average rates for a standard room are around $336 to $448, which varies depending on the time of year. If you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member, mention your account upon checking in to earn points from your stay.
Getting To W Hollywood
After landing at the LAX airport, we took an Uber to get to W Hollywood. It’s about 23 miles away and took about half an hour to arrive.

Overall, if you’re looking for where to stay in Los Angeles, I’d recommend W Hollywood. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve experienced and is located at a great spot to see major attractions. After staying there for five nights, I miss it! Hope to be back soon.
Do You Need A Car In LA?
The most common way to get from place to place is definitely by car. As a New Yorker, I barely drive and didn’t plan to on our trip so we just called Ubers.
What they say about LA traffic is true — there’s a lot of it! So, be prepared to wait for cars to arrive or sit in traffic if you drive.
There are options to get around through public transportation although I’m honestly not familiar with their system.
How Many Days Do You Need In LA?
We stayed in LA for six days, five nights and I’d say that was a good amount of time.
Within the week, we visited the Broad Museum, Greystone Mansion & Gardens, Koreatown, Venice Beach, Little Tokyo, and more. We also got to see the Hollywood sign, and Griffith Park, and had dinner on Melrose Avenue one night.
Since we worked during the days, we didn’t have as many chances to see more neighborhoods, though. The next time we go, I’d love to check out Santa Monica Pier, Echo Park, and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
There’s also more of West Hollywood, the Getty Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles Zoo, Japanese American National Museum, Manhattan Beach, Paramount Studios, Hermosa Beach, Grammy Museum, and so much more to explore in LA.
