With every new year, I put together vision board ideas that align with my intentions to accomplish exciting goals ahead.
(Although, side note: vision boards can be done at any time of the year!)
Growing up on Long Island in New York, I dreamed of working as a magazine editor and living in the city. I’d spend hours flipping through pages, cutting out a collage of images and inspirational quotes that spoke to me, and imagining how my life could look like in the future.
Since then, I’ve become more interested in the law of attraction. Over the years, I’ve learned more techniques and tips on how to make an effective vision board. Doing so first starts on getting clear on how you want to feel and what you truly want to achieve, then finding the images and that reflect those emotions and goals.
When done right, vision boards are not just inspiring — they’re powerful tools for making a positive impact and transforming your life!
Whether it’s a physical vision board or an online vision board, they help focus your energy, align your actions with your dreams, and give you something tangible to keep you motivated throughout the year.
If you’ve ever felt stuck or unsure about your goals, creating a vision board could be the tool to transform your dreams into reality.
Now, let’s dive into some vision board ideas to make 2025 your best yet!
What Exactly Is A Vision Board?
First off, let’s talk about what a vision board is. Overall, it’s a visual representation of your goals (think: a mood board-like collection of materials like personal photos, stock photos, and inspirational words that serve as motivation).
For example, you may have a photo of a runner if you’re aiming to amp up your fitness routine. Or, maybe you have a quote about flowers if you plan on getting more into gardening. You can also use your dream board to manifest material goals like a new car or home.
Everyone’s vision board is unique to them and their personal goals, and that’s what makes it interesting!
There are two formats you can choose between: a physical board and a digital board.
A Physical Vision Board Is Right For You If…
- Tangible Connection: Since a physical board is something you make with your hands (often cutting out old magazines, a collage of words, and then using a glue stick to put it all together), it’s more personal.
- Physical Reminder: You prefer placing the actual board somewhere you can easily see to remind you of your goals. Pro tip: Frame your board and make a unique piece of wall art.
- Willing To Dedicate Time: Since you’ll manually look through the material to find what resonates, it may take more time to create. (But the creative process can be fun!)
A Digital Vision Board Is Right For You If…
- Easier To Update: A digital vision board can be created using sites like Canva, Pinterest, and Milanote, which can all be easily updated. This is important if your goals change through the year.
- Accessibility: You can pull up your digital vision board from anywhere — on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
- Saves Space: If you rather not have a physical board take up space now and in the following years, a digital version solves that and can be easily accessed in the future, too.

How To Create One: A Step-By-Step Guide
Last year, I went to a fun event where the theme was to create a vision board revolving around one key word or phrase. For example, it can be “Love” if it’s the year you plan to be more intentional about dating.
For me, the first word that came to mind was “Growth”. At the time, I really wanted to focus on building more on my career and growing personally, as well.
Having a key word or phrase in mind helps that reminder stick in your memory.
It can also serve as a starting point to create your dream vision board.
Here are 7 simple steps on how to create your own vision board to help you with goal setting in 2025!
1. Choose a Theme: Review the vision board ideas above and decide whether you prefer to create an overall life vision board or create individual ones that hone in on each focus.
2. Set Intentions: The most important thing! Before looking for pretty photos and inspiring quotes, take some quality time to journal. Do a brain dump and let your subconscious mind reveal your specific goals. You might just come up with thoughts you didn’t even know were meaningful to you! That’s the amazing thing about writing…the more you write, the more you learn more about yourself.
3. Consider Your Feelings: Going beyond just listing your goals — think about WHY you want to achieve them. How do you want to feel when it comes to each?
4. Gather Necessary Materials: If you’re creating a physical vision board, you may need items such as a piece of poster board, old magazines, handwritten notes, scissors, a glue stick, tape, markers, pens, and stickers.
If you’re creating a digital vision board, you may need a computer or tablet and access to a site like Canva, Pinterest, or Milanote, and the good old world wide web.
When gathering materials, look for things that relate to your overall theme and make you feel happy.
5. Organize And Arrange: Now that you have your materials ready, it’s time to put it all on your board. Aim to create balance and organize everything in a way that doesn’t feel cluttered. Making it aesthetically pleasing makes it more appealing to keep referring back to it, making your goals easier to achieve.
6. Review: Once you have your board completed, take a moment to review all your hard work. Reflect on why you included certain images and words then close your eyes and imagine it all coming TRUE.
7. Reflect Often: Place your vision board somewhere you’ll see every day for it to be your go-to daily visual reminder.
For example, it’s a physical one, you can frame it as wall art in your bedroom. If it’s a digital one, you can set it as your phone wallpaper, desktop wallpaper, or as a bookmarked tab on your computer.
Remember: Reflecting on a vision board in your daily life keeps your short and long-term goals top of mind — and serve as a constant reminder for motivation!
